Horse Riding Instruction
Information and Videos

Horse Riding Instruction: On this page you will find great instructional videos on proper riding position and basic riding skills for both English and Western disciplines! I am hoping to add a more advanced riding instructional video page in the near future so check back for that soon if this page is too much of a beginner thing for you:) A good review never hurt anybody, right?

The following videos demonstrate basic English positioning; as well as, positioning at the walk, trot, and canter on a simulated horse model-I think these videos are great! Easy to see up close the actual mechanics of the rider and explained very well.

Further down the page you will find a video of English riding with an actual horse. The first video demonstrates riding with horse movement, saddle design, and correct position.

Equisimulator teaching the proper position at the walk

Equisimulator teaching the proper position at the trot-sitting and posting

Equisimulator teaching the proper position at the canter

This video demonstrates how to properly mount your horse and is presented by the Certified Horsemanship Association

Here's a video demonstrating proper rider position on a Western horse. Also by the Certified Horsemanship Association and explains proper positioning at the walk and halt; as well as, during transitions. Very good video.

This is a great video and highly recommended for Western riders. It explains all about what to look for in a Western horse, different disciplines, and everything Western!

Here is an English instructional demonstration on proper rider position at the walk, trot, and canter.

Check back for updated new videos!
