Horse Racing: The most popular form is Thoroughbred racing and is known in many parts of the world. It is performed on the flat, over jumps, and as steeplechasing or over hurdles. Other forms include harness for the standardbred breed, endurance for arabians, and the short distance sprint is for the quarter horse.

The thoroughbred race is performed most commonly on the flat on an oval shaped track and is based on speed and stamina of the horse. It is ran on dirt, turf, or synthetic surfaces.

Important U.S. races include the Kentucky Derby which forms the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing including the Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes. Also well known is the Breeders Cup.

Amazing jockey Calvin Borel is featured in the next two videos-Winning on Mine That Bird at the 2009 Kentucky Derby and on Rachel Alexandra in the 2009 Preakness-these were stunning wins.







Here is a dedication video that I just had to add here for Eight Bells, the only filly amongst 19 colts at the 2008 Kentucky Derby. She collapsed with two broken front legs and had to be euthanized after coming in second to Big Brown-May you rest in peace beautiful girl.
